Mother was a commission from Belgium for my goddaughter. At the time, she hadn't yet begun to speak, so the theme was left entirely in her mother's hands. Having known the mother for a while, I imagined she would draw inspiration from the wondrous and mythical realm of unicorns and fairies.

In the centre of the artwork, a curious and innocent baby unicorn is sheltered by the care and love of her mother. In their whimsical world, everything is magical. A vivid splash of colour, a fairy holding a bag of good fortune poised to sprinkle her enchantments over the unicorn family, and a bright allure in the sky are everyday norms for this foal.

This artwork serves as a beautiful reminder of the power of imagination and the joy of childhood. It is a tribute to the wonder and magic surrounding us and a celebration of the special bond between mother and child.
